Christmas in July

Christmas in July.

I had heard the phrase before and just thought it was an excuse for a summer sale at various retail shops.

But this past week, when I turned on my cable TV music channel, looking for some music to listen to, out of curiosity I check out 'sounds of the season' and discover they are celebrating Christmas in July.

I did not know that celebrating Christmas in July is actually a tradition in the southern hemisphere, (Australia, South Africa, etc), because of the desire to celebrate Christmas and enjoy some traditional holiday celebrations during their cold, snowy season.

If you've read my post on How I Won a Trip to Las Vegas , you'll know I love Christmas music. It's my favorite part of the holiday season and I have numerous records, cassettes, and CD's to prove it. Although I usually only listen to them in November and December.

Anyway, this past Sunday, after a three mile run in the misty rain, which felt wonderful, while sitting on the floor cross legged, enjoying my breakfast of wheat flakes and fresh sliced strawberries, out of a Christmas bowl, while listening to Christmas music on the tv, I was aware of feeling really happy, of feeling good now.

And that's the key.  Find ways to feel good now.

"You cannot have a happy ending to an unhappy journey."
Abraham

On our journey from where we are now to where we want to be, one of our primary goals is to find ways to feel good now

This means not waiting until we have the relationship, the body, the home, or the job we desire before we can feel good.

What we are feeling now, is an indication of how we will feel then.

Feeling good is personal.  Everyone is different. What makes one person feel good, can make another miserable.

Maybe running in the rain and celebrating Christmas in July, is not your idea of a good time.

What is?  It's your choice, and so is feeling good.  We can choose to find ways of feeling good in every moment no matter what is going on around us.

Feeling good creates more experiences of feeling good.

If you are celebrating Christmas in July, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
