Hold on Tight to Your Dreams

 "Hold On Tight"

Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see your ship go sailing
When you feel your heart is breaking
Hold tight to your dream.

It's a long time to be gone
Time just rolls on and on
When you need a shoulder to cry on
When you get so sick of trying
Just hold tight to your dream

[CHORUS:]
When you get so down that you can't get up
And you want so much but you're all out of luck
When you're so downhearted and misunderstood
Just over & over & over you could

Hold on tight to your dream
Hold on tight to your dream
When you see the shadows falling
When you hear that cold wind calling
Hold on tight to your dream.

Jeff Lynne

Have you ever had a desire or a dream in mind and you feel like you've done everything you can do to move toward it, vibrationally and physically, and it still doesn't seem to be happening?

One of the biggest challenges can be keeping the faith, or holding on tight to our dream when it looks like it just isn't happening.

Keeping the faith, believing what we say we believe, that we really do have the power to create our lives, and trusting that when we have planted the seed, the Universe will bring about the harvest.

I was feeling discouraged recently about a goal I've had for a couple of years and my Sweetie, in an effort to cheer me up, started giving me a foot massage and just talking about things in general, when he reminded me of a dream that looked like it was never going to happen, but it did.

I felt inspired to tell you my story.

As I've mentioned before, I have owned and operated my own retail shop since 1980.  About seven or eight years ago, I noticed the sign on the front of my shop was starting to look really faded and worn.  It had been repainted a couple of times over the years but was really not in good enough condition to be painted again.  It needed replaced. So I decided I would get a new sign.

Have you ever priced a sign?  Well, I am here to tell you, even the least expensive ones, are pricey.  Then there is also the cost of installing it, or hanging it, but I had decided it was time, I set my intention to get a new sign.

I actually had a really good customer that came in regularly, and his family owned the biggest sign shop in town. Right after I decided to get a new sign, he came in one day and mentioned that he thought I could use a new sign.  I agreed and told him I had just decided to get one.  He said he would come back, measure it, and give me an estimate.

Wow, how lucky is that?  Evidence that the Universe was already working on it.

Each week goes by, he keeps coming in to shop, mentions he will come back to measure, and yet, the weeks, then months, keep going by and he eventually never comes back. I keep the faith, I'm getting a new sign.

In the meantime, another guy comes in and mentions I need a new sign, asks if he could take some measurements, some photos, draw up some sketches and bring me an estimate? Just what I needed and I didn't have to go looking for anyone.  He takes the measurements, the photos, and my phone number but I never heard from him again.

Not long after, another guy came in and said, "looks like you need a new sign, I'm a sign painter, can I bring you back an estimate?"  You guessed it, never heard from him again.

By now, it's been at least another year, the sign is looking more faded.

A stranger stops in front of the shop one day and says he can possibly get me a new sign for $7800.  Ouch! He never returned with any designs.

One day while talking with my Sweetie about my dream of getting a new sign, he asks me, just what do you want your sign to look like.  So right then and there I told him what I wanted and he designed the sign on paper and then on the computer.

I now knew exactly what I wanted the sign to look like and I had an image of it that I put on my screensaver and I would tell customers, that's my new sign.

Each day as I came to work, I would look up and imagine I was seeing my new sign, and it looked so good!

More months go by and a man comes in and mentions he used to come in as a kid years ago, says how happy getting to come there made him, and that he would love to "gift" me a new sign. Seems he was now a business owner himself and could easily afford it.  Awesome! He gave me his email address to send him my design.

A couple weeks go by and he replies that he didn't like my design, how about his design instead.  When I replied thank you, but I love my design, I never heard from him again.

By this time, it feels like the Universe is just teasing me. It was discouraging. I really didn't have the money to just call up a professional sign company and order it. My customers were probably tired of hearing me say I'm getting a new sign soon, but I didn't give up on my dream. I just kept looking up and imagining my new sign already installed as I arrived every day.

Five years and five "offers" later, after setting my intention to get a new sign, Sweetie and I went to a little Christmas get together with some friends, and as we are exchanging our gifts, one of Sweetie's friends says he had to run outside to get my gift.

Imagine my complete surprise when he hauls in to the foyer my new 8 foot sign exactly as I had pictured it, and it was a gift.

Even though he lives 400 miles away, he had seen my old sign and told my Sweetie he was going to make me a new one, at his sign shop.

My dream of a new sign took over five years but it did happen. I got a sign that costs several thousand dollars, free, and it was exactly the sign I wanted.  I also got it installed for free.

Some dreams and desires take longer to manifest than others but don't give up.  In the words of Jeff Lynne's song, "Hold on Tight" to your dream!

Until next time,

I'm Living My Dream

Most nights whenever I get into bed, I pull out my notebook and write down my successes, any synchronicities, good news, signs, miracles, or something I am thankful for that day, before going to sleep.

One night this past week, as I sat on my bed, notebook in hand, I began thinking how thankful I was to own my own business, be my own boss, have a wonderful relationship, and have a home to call my own.

When I suddenly realized, I am living my dreams. My dreams of 15 years ago!

Fifteen years ago, I was at an all time low.

I had moved out of my home of 20 years, in a hurry, taking only whatever would fit into my car.  I spent six weeks basically living in my car, some nights sleeping over at family and friend's houses or staying at motels whenever I had any extra cashA drunk driver without insurance had crashed through the front of my business, and sales were at an all time low. Trying to extricate myself from a miserable, abusive marriage, needless to say, I was very depressed.

One night when I was seriously contemplating checking out of this game called life, I was standing idly in a bookstore, when a book fell off of a shelf and landed on my foot.  I picked it up, noticed the title, "You Can Heal Your Life", and said to no one in particular, "yeah right", and placed it back on the shelf.

As I stood there, I suddenly began to wonder, just how had that book had fallen off the shelf? Feeling curious, I reached up and pulled it out to take another look.

Opening it up to a random page, or so I thought, I will always remember what I read in that moment.

"Your thoughts and beliefs of the past have created this moment, and all of the moments up to this moment.  What you are now choosing to believe and think and say will create the next moment and the next day and the next month and the next year...You are the power in your world! You get to have whatever you choose to think! This moment begins the new process.  Each moment is a new beginning, and this moment is a new beginning for you right here and right now!"

You Can Heal Your Life - by Louise Hay

And it was.  I bought that book and began to heal my life.  I began to change my thoughts and beliefs and set new goals.  Contrast does bring Clarity!

  • I wanted a home of my own.
  • I wanted to be a better supportive, loving mother
  • I wanted a healthy loving relationship with a wonderful man.
  • I wanted a successful, prosperous business.

I did not know anything about the Law of Attraction, nor had I learned the processes and tools for deliberate creation, and it didn't happen overnight.
I wish I had known then, what I know now.

But it DID happen. Some things quickly, some more slowly.

Of course, whenever we achieve a goal, there is always a new goal.  We are ever expanding. As Abraham says, "We never get it done".

As I sat there on my bed and realized that I am now living the life of my dreams, of fifteen years ago, it gave me chills because I know that the dreams I hold for my future, are also in the process of coming true. What a feeling!

Take a look at your life.  What dreams have come true for you?
What dreams do you want to come true?

As Louise Hay said, "You are the power in your world! You get to have whatever you choose to think!"

I agree.

Love and Luck,
Lucky Lady
