Increase Your Luck with Five Easy Tools for Manifesting

Want to increase your luck? Your money? Eliminate debt? Improve your health? Manifest a new relationship? New job?

Here's my five favorite EASY tools for manifesting.

First things first, you must know what you want, and how you want to feel, or how you expect to feel when you have it.

#1 - Imagining or Visualization

This is my all time favorite manifesting tool.  I believe as Neville says "Imagination creates Reality".

It's easy, takes just a few minutes, can be done almost anywhere, (not while driving, of course), and  it works.

Simply relax, close your eyes, and imagine a scene that would take place if you had whatever it is you desire. The end result.

This can be as simple as hearing someone congratulate you, clinking your champagne glass in a toast, declaring "Isn't it wonderful?!", etc. and ties in with tool number 2.

#2 -Assume the Feeling

How would you feel if your wish came true?  Assume that feeling now.  Feeling is the key.

An easy way to do this, is to recall a time when you felt that way before. Doesn't matter if it is totally unrelated.

As you do your imagining or visualizing, (tool #1), recall those feelings. Feeling the way you want to feel attracts to you more experiences to feel that same feeling.

When you assume the feeling of your heart's desire, you also act, and react differently.  You make different choices, notice different opportunities. You are emitting a different vibration.

#3 - Scripting

Write it down as if it has already happened.

Write out what it is you want to happen, how you want it to look, and especially how you want to feel, as if it has already happened.

It can be long, and full of details, or it can be short and straight to the end result.

I have had great results with both.  The important thing is to get into the feeling of the end result.  This has happened, (and I am so relieved) I have this, (and I am so thankful), I am this,(and I feel so confidant and happy), and that really gets you into the feeling.  I'll say it again, feeling is the key.

#4 - Affirm it.

If you have imagined it, assumed the feeling, scripted it, then affirm it.

The thoughts we think and the words we speak are powerful vibrations so why not choose to think and speak only about what it is you want to attract.

Always say your affirmations in the present tense.  Such as I am, or I have.

One of my all time favorite affirmations is "Isn't it wonderful?!" As soon as I say it, I feel good.  I imagine all sorts of amazing, wonderful things have already happened, and it makes me feel good, and that's the point.

You can do them anytime, anywhere, even while driving.  You can even record them and listen to them while you sleep.

#5 - Give Thanks!

If you have received whatever it is you're desiring, you'd be feeling thankful and giving thanks

This can be done during your visualizations, or imaginings.  Hearing yourself saying, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!".

You can use it in scripting, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" or "I am so thankful, I feel so thankful!"

When you are doing your affirmations, just say, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

It really is that easy.

Until next time,

Synchronicity

I am always amazed by synchronicities, and the more I take notice of them, the more they seem to occur. Remember this one?  How about this one?

I usually write mine down each evening, and this past week was no exception, so I thought I would share a few of them.

Websters dictionary defines synchronicity as ":the coincidental occurrence of events and especially psychic events (as similar thoughts in widely separated persons or a mental image of an unexpected event before it happens) that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality —used especially in the psychology of C. G. Jung"

I am not sure how I would define synchronicity.  I do believe that we attract whatever we put our focus on, and can deliberately attract to us, whatever we put our focus on.

First, I had an email from someone that suggested cleaning your front door, and or entryway, would up my vibration for more positive energy.

So I promptly went home and cleaned my porch off and wiped down my front door.  I sent her an email and told her that even though I couldn't turn the sow's ear into a silk purse, it did up my vibration immediately.

I then went over to my Sweetie's and as we started watching an episode of the Munster's, Lilly gives Marilyn a silk purse made out of a sow's ear.

Bizarre, hmm?

The next morning as I was having a phone conversation with my daughter, telling her I thought I would give my cable provider a call to discuss my rates, when I had a call from an unidentified number, so I didn't click over.  Lo and behold, the caller left a voice mail identifying themselves as my cable provider wanting to discuss my rates and see how they could offer me a better deal.  Wow.

A couple nights later, some friends were over and we were all discussing scientology, the very next morning I walk into a store and the first thing I see is a magazine with the headline "My escape from scientology".

That night, I decided to visualize $100 bills, and the next day my first three customers handed me $100 bills.

Now I am not looking to attract silk purses or scientology, but I do want to attract better cable rates and $100 bills.

Abraham says it takes as little as 17 seconds of pure focus to begin attracting something into your physical reality.

The Law of Attraction is always working whether we are deliberately focusing on what we want or what we don't want.

This past week of synchronicities reminded me of this and I don't know about you but I am going to spend more time deliberately focusing on what I do want to attract.

Until next time,

Do You Hear What I Hear?

I'm having so much fun applying Neville's Law of Attraction tool of Revision, that I thought I would share my latest experience.

If you don't know what revision is, check out one of my earlier posts:
Increase Your Luck with Revision or Does Revision Work?

My daughter is getting married soon, and when we purchased her wedding gown we knew she would need some alterations, which I agreed to pay for.

I had asked about how much would we need, so I could begin saving the money to pay for them, and somehow we determined we would need about $400.

The night before my daughter was all set to go to the seamstress, she told me a lady where she works had informed her that the alterations would quite possibly be more around $700 since my daughter's wedding dress includes a beaded jacket. Seems her daughter had just gotten married last year and that's how much her's cost.

The minute I heard my daughter say it could easily cost $700 instead of $400, I felt myself begin to panic. I had $400 set aside, how could I possibly come up with an extra $300 within a week.

Knowing that what I am feeling, is what I am vibrating and attracting, I knew I had to control my reaction, and shift my vibration.  I decided to use revision.

In other words, I decided to hear what I wanted to hear

So, I thought about it for a few minutes, and decided what I wanted to hear was not that it was going to cost more than expected, instead, I imagined hearing my daughter excitedly saying, "It cost less than we expected!", and hearing myself respond with "Woohoo!".

I only imagined it for a few moments, just long enough to feel the relief of it.

Whenever you shift your vibration about something, you know it, and you can feel it. It's done.

Anytime that it crossed my mind after that, I would immediately hear what I wanted to hear again, assume the feeling of my wish fulfilled, and let it go.

The next day my daughter called me after her appointment to let me know how much I owed, and guess what I heard?  "It cost less than we expected, it was only $207!" and of course I responded with an excited, "Woohoo!".

Now my daughter didn't have a clue I was using some of that weird LOA stuff, and a skeptic might say that it would have happened anyway, but I know, we can hear what we want to hear

Whenever you hear something that isn't what you wanted, I urge you to revise it.
Hear what you want to hear.

Until next time,

Here's to your Lucky Life!

Increase Your Luck with Affirmations

"We must affirm that we are already that which we hope to be and live as though we were, knowing that our assumption, though false to the outer world, if persisted in, will harden into fact."
Neville
I have heard people say that affirmations do not work.

We are using affirmations every day whether we realize it or not, and they are always working.

Every time we say "I am..." such as "I am unlucky, I am broke, I am overweight, I am sick, I am lonely, I am sad, I am always running late, I am a failure", etc., we are affirming to the Universe and ourselves, exactly what we are and the Universe just sends us more of the same to confirm it.

There is the argument that those affirmations are things we accept as true about ourselves, and therefore that's why they work, and I agree.

Whereas positive affirmations such as "I am lucky, I am successful, I am healthy, I am happy", may not be true and that's why they don't work.

In other words, we must be able to affirm as true, what we desire, in order for it to become true, for us.

"That which we will not affirm as true of ourselves cannot develop in our life"
Neville

Here's a little process I use when an affirmation brings up doubt or resistance, to create affirmations that I can accept as true for me.

Whatever affirmation I am going to begin using, if I affirm it and it brings up resistance, or it doesn't feel good, I ask myself am I willing to be that? Am I willing to be what I am affirming as true? Am I willing to imagine myself in the end result, already being, doing, or having what I desire? If not, then why not?

This helps me become aware of negative beliefs attached to my desire that may be holding me back and work through them.

This also helps me create a new concept of myself, of being what I desire to be because it is our concept of ourselves, what we decide is true for us, that determines our present and our future.

Then I start with the affirmation..."I am willing to be..." and that feels good.

Meanwhile I am spending time each day imagining the end result, assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled, imagining myself already being, doing, and having accomplished whatever I desire and that makes it easy to affirm it.

Imagination creates reality, and if you've imagined it, you've gotten the concept of yourself being it, so speak it forth with confidence, "I am ..." .

Increase your luck, with affirmations.

Until next time,

Increase Your Luck - Script the End Result

I'm a true believer in the power of scripting when it comes to manifesting my lucky life.

I've written before about what a great tool scripting is but I recently had more evidence of the true power of this great manifesting process.

Scripting is like placing your order with the Universe.

For those of you who have never used scripting, here is how I define scripting.

Scripting is when you write out what it is you want to happen, how you want it to look, and especially how you want to feel, or expect to feel,  before it happens, as if it has already happened.

I was rearranging my books the other day when a paper fell out of one, and I stopped to read it.

It was two separate events that I had scripted in 2014. I had scripted both events in detail.  What actions I had taken, then end results that I wanted, and how good that felt, and I gave thanks.

Both events, had turned out exactly as I had scripted them, in every detail. Amazing, right?

Here's what really amazed me.

Both of these events were an annual occurrence and were set to happen again in 2015, and they did.

Only this year, (2015), even though I scripted them, I didn't have time to write out in detail, all of the details.  I didn't take time to write out all the actions I had taken.

All I had scripted were the end results that I wanted, and how wonderful that felt, and I gave thanks.

No juicy details.  Just the end result.

The end result?

I got exactly what I wanted, it happened much faster, easier, and in a way I would not have imagined, and I hardly took any action at all.

This made me realize, we are so powerful as deliberate creators, we can script in all the details, the efforting, the action steps, the people, in other words, all the how's that we think we need, when in fact, all we need to script is the end result desired, as if it has already happened.

Let the Universe figure out the how's.

Obviously the Universe can deliver it faster, easier, and in ways we can't even think of.

Here's my tip for Increasing your manifesting luck - Skip the details, go straight to the end result whether it's imagining or scripting.

Until next time,

Here's to your Lucky Life!

Keeping the Faith

I thought it was time for another one of my magical manifestation stories.

I just love the way the Universe can deliver when we clearly state something we desire, and promptly release all attachment to it. Don't you?

Here's my story...

One Sunday night, my Sweetie and I were watching the Harrison Ford “Fugitive” movie.  Since the movie takes place in Chicago, I look over and ask Sweetie, “How long has it been since you’ve been to Chicago?”  His reply was “Years”.  I agreed it had been quite a few years since I had been there also, so I suggested we plan us a little trip there together.  He agreed.  We continued watching the movie without further ado.

The next day on our way home from the shop, we decide to stop by Goodwill and take a look around, see if anything caught our eye.

As we were wandering through the aisles Steely Dan’s “Hey Nineteen”, began to play on their sound system.  Sweetie and I are big Steely Dan fans so we were enjoying their choice of music.  Sweetie made a comment that it sure would be fun to go see Steely Dan again soon. I agreed.

About that time, Sweetie’s phone rings and it’s a friend we had met several years ago who shares our love of great concerts and his first question was, “What are you guys doing Labor Day weekend?”  No plans at the moment, Sweetie replied.

After a brief pause, Sweetie turns to me and says, “He wants to know if we would like to go see Steely Dan in Chicago Labor Day weekend?”  Without missing a beat, I said, “Yes, we would! We just said we wanted to plan a little trip to Chicago last night, and you just said it would be fun to see Steely Dan in concert again, of course!”

Wow, how amazing is that?

Two weeks later our friend calls again to see if we are attending a certain concert, (Heaven and Hell) the next day in Cincinnati. If we were, he would meet up with us there (he lives 200 miles from us), and give us the Steely Dan tickets.

We hadn’t even known the Heaven and Hell concert was even happening but said if we could get some tickets for it, we would be there. Sounds like fun.

I go to Ticketmaster to see if any tickets are available and miraculously bought two, second row center, pit tickets for cover price.  Wow, that was lucky.

The next day we drive the 150 miles to the show and meet up with our friend.
He tells us about winning seventh row tickets to see Steely Dan at the Chicago Theatre five nights in a row.

Since he already had tickets for the Friday night show and wanted to sit with some other friends, he was happy to give these tickets to us if we promised to go.  Chicago is about a 500 mile drive for us.  We promised we would be there.

As he walked away, Sweetie turns to me and asks, “How are we going to afford a trip to Chicago so soon?  We need money for gas, the hotel, and food.”  I told him not to worry, we would go, somehow, some way.

At that moment a guy walks by and the back of his t-shirt said KEEP THE FAITH. I told Sweetie, “Look, it’s a sign!”  “No, he replied, it’s just a Judas Priest concert shirt.”  I repeated, “It’s a sign!” I was going to keep the faith.
The Heaven and Hell concert was lots of fun, our seats were awesome and Sweetie even got a Tony Iommi guitar pic.

The next day I was back at the shop, selling my comics, when I got an excited call from my daughter.  Seems the mailman had just delivered a priority envelope for me.  Inside was notification that I had just won a $500 American Express gift card, which was enclosed.

That card paid for the entire trip and we even stayed at the Wit Hotel, just around the corner from the Chicago Theatre.

The Wit had some delicious cookies, we had an awesome meal at an Irish pub, we went down to the Field Museum, and took in some sights.

What a fun weekend in the Windy City! That Steely Dan concert was one of the best we have attended so far, and as a bonus, had a special guest appearance by Larry Carlton playing guitar.

Whenever I know what I want, keep the faith, and trust the Universe to figure out the 'hows', it's always amazing.

Until next time,

Does Revision work?

One of my favorite manifesting tools is Neville Goddard's Revision technique.

"The circle can be broken by starting now to revise anything that you no longer wish to sustain in your world. By revising the past, you rid yourself of any effect it may have on your future."
Neville Goddard

I love revision and I use it regularly. It works!

I've written about it before but today I feel inspired to share with you how I recently used revision to heal my arm.

Neville's definition of revision says,

"To revise the past is to re-construct it with new content. Man should daily relive the day as he wished he had lived it, revising the scenes to make them conform to his ideals. For instance, suppose today's mail brought disappointing news.  Revise the letter.  Mentally rewrite it and make it conform to the news you wish you had received.  Then, in imagination, read the revised letter over and over again and this will arouse the feeling of naturalness; and imaginal acts become facts as soon as we feel natural in the act. This is the essence of revision and revision results in repeal."
A couple of months ago, I went to have some blood work done.  I do this annually, and previously it had always been quick and painless. So much so, that I always told the nurse, "wow, you're good! I didn't feel a thing".

This time was different.  Even though it was the same lady as always, when she stuck the needle in my arm, an intense pain shot all the way down into my hand and hurt so badly, I moaned in pain the whole time.

A week later my arm was still hurting so badly, I could hardly stand the pain or use my right arm. Instead of improving, it was getting worse.

I actually went online looking for a solution and everything I read was negative.

It seems she must have hit a nerve and everyone was saying this would take months to heal, if it ever did. Some had even written that they had to contact an attorney and sue.

Oh no! Not what I wanted at all!

That night I decided to try revision to heal my arm.

Here's what I did.

I lay down on my bed and remembered the incident as clearly as I could, sitting in the chair, all the pain when the nurse inserted the needle, etc.  Then, in my mind, I pretended to be standing in the room and watching it all happen.  As I did this, I shrunk the image down to the size of a grain of salt and then I stepped on it. (This is not part of Neville's technique, but sort of my own NLP).

After that, I revised the whole visit, from the time I arrived, sat down in the chair, the nurse inserted the needle, and I got up to leave.

Only this time, I remembered it just like it had happened all the previous times, and I heard myself saying, "Wow, you're good!  I didn't feel a thing.".

I replayed the revised memory of this visit in my mind several times before falling asleep.

The next morning when I woke up, the pain in my arm was gone. I was thrilled. When I used my arm I could still feel some pain but I decided to ignore the facts and just kept hearing myself tell the nurse, "I didn't feel a thing".

Within a few days, all of the pain was gone and my arm is totally healed.

Revision works! All it takes is your imagination

Have a revision story of your own?  I'd love to hear it.

Is there Hidden Treasure under your clutter?

Everywhere I turn these days I seem to have more stuff.  How about you?

For some reason, I always put off decluttering, but it seems like every time I do it, I find hidden treasure.

I wrote an article a few months back titled, Can decluttering increase your luck?,
where I reported finding money ($160. to be exact), when I took inspired action and did some decluttering.

Last week at my shop, I once again felt inspired to organize a box of books a stranger had given me for free. He literaly begged me to take them, said he was moving out of town and was just going to throw them away if I didn't.

It's been busy lately and I just hadn't had time to go through them so after tripping over them for several months now, I suddenly felt inspired to organize them.  At the bottom of the box was a hidden treasure, a really neat vintage 10K gold and sterling silver ring.

It reminded me of an experience I had a long time ago, before I knew anything about the Law of Attraction.

I had a vintage ring my father had given me that I absolutely loved. It was engraved with my initials and I always wore it.  One day I looked down and it wasn't on my finger.

I searched everywhere for it and couldn't find it.  For several years, I cried over this ring.  I even tried to find another one like it but never could.

I would "imagine" myself finding that ring and once again looking down and seeing it on my finger.

Then one day, I decided to clean and declutter my bedroom, and when I moved my dresser, there was my ring. It had been right there, all those years.

It actually inspired me to do more decluttering.  I wonder, how many more hidden treasures will I find?

Even if I don't find any more hidden treasures, it always makes me feel lighter and happier. It clears the stagnant energy and makes room for the Universe to bring me something new, in other words, it increases my luck.

Assume the Feeling

This week's manifesting story was a reminder to me, that if we stay in the "state of the wish fulfilled" as Neville calls it, what we desire will show up, but not necessarily from where we expect it to.

While out and about last weekend, I ran into a customer, who mentioned he had several hundred dollars he was coming in to spend on Monday.*

On several previous occasions this guy has mentioned he was coming to spend certain amounts, on certain days, and has always shown up, so I assumed it was a done deal.

I immediately thought about how good that would feel to start the week off with several hundred dollars in extra sales. In other words, I assumed the feeling.

It actually felt so good knowing I had extra money coming in, that I decided to go ahead and mail out some extra payments on the bills, and that felt even better.

Monday is usually a fairly busy day at the shop, but this one started off rather slowly.  In fact, by 3:30 in the afternoon, with just 90 more minutes before closing, I had only had two sales and they were unusually small.

I didn't let it bother me one iota, after all, I was expecting a large sale today, from you know who, so I went on about my work feeling good, feeling prosperous, and handing the postman my extra payments.

When suddenly another customer walks in and spends a couple hundred dollars.  Then, a total stranger came to my shop for the first time, from about 50 miles away, and he purchased several hundred dollars worth and I stayed busy until closing time with customers.

After closing and totaling up the day's sales, I realized I had indeed started the week off with several hundred extra dollars in sales and it felt just as good as I had imagined, but it hadn't come from the customer I expected it to.

Which was indeed a reminder that when we go to the end, and stay in the feeling of the wish fulfilled, it will manifest.

I was feeling good all weekend and then all day Monday, knowing I had several hundred extra dollars coming in, and it did!

It didn't come from where I thought it would come, but it came.

So, until next time, assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled, assume that it's a done deal, and it will be.

Here's to your lucky life!

Another Chance to Practice

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article called control your reactions and increase your luck and this past week I had another chance to practice it.

I really love learning and studying the Law of Attraction and I will be the first to admit I am not always manifesting exactly what I want, but I choose to use these tools every day and practice what I teach.

Back to my story.

Last weekend I had several domain names that were set to renew and I made a note in my checkbook to deduct the amount, which was somewhere around $65.
All was well.

Then on Monday morning I received several email notifications that all my domains had failed to renew, and the price they were attempting to charge me was about three times what I had counted on.

My first reaction before learning this LOA secret of controlling our reactions would have been to panic, (OMG, right?), but I deliberately remained calm, read all of the emails in detail to find out why, before deciding how to react.

After some investigating, I discovered not only were they attempting to bill an expired card, they were charging me for optional extras I didn't need, and billing for two years instead of one.

So, what looked like bad news (Your domain names have failed to renew), was actually good news because I ended up getting all of my domain names renewed for less than I had written in my checkbook.

What if everything that appeared to be bad news, was really just the Universe working out something good?

What if, what appears to be going wrong may actually be working out in your favor?

If you can control your reaction and trust all is well, you just may find you have increased your luck. If not in this moment, you will be pre-paving, as Abraham says, your future experiences.

Until next time, here's to your lucky life!

Count Your Blessings and Increase Your Luck

Do you ever feel like things just aren't going the way you want them to?
Surely, the Law of Attraction just isn't working for you?

It sure looks like it's working for everyone else, but it just isn't working for you?
I've had those days, we all have.

The truth is, the Law of Attraction is a law, and it is always working, always giving you more of whatever you are thinking, imagining, and therefore vibrating.

Think of the law of attraction as your personal "yes" genie.  It is always saying "yes" to whatever you are vibrating.

So, if you are vibrating, everything is going wrong, or it's not working for me, that's exactly what the law of attraction (your "yes" genie), is giving you more of.

The law of attraction is impersonal, it doesn't decide what is good or bad for you, it just says "yes" here is more of whatever it is you are focusing on.

One sure fire way I've learned to shift my vibration, increase my luck and turn the tide, is to start appreciating everything that is going right, and expressing appreciation for all of my blessings, finding the good.

I know that can really be a challenge when we are in the middle of things going "wrong".

I once watched a movie titled "Freaks", and it had a little documentary about the man called "the human torso". He had no arms or legs, but was married, had a child, and made a good living using what he did have.

Right then and there I knew I could never justify complaining about my lot in life and that was before I knew about using the law of attraction and our innate ability to use our imagination to deliberately create our own lucky life.

Although our personal situations are different, we all are given the power to imagine and create change in our lives by choosing what we focus on.

The power is yours.  It is up to you.

If you want to increase your luck, start giving thanks for all of your blessings.

Make a list of all the good stuff.  You can start with the obvious.  As you continue listing all the things you are thankful for, you will soon find that your mood has shifted to appreciation and gratitude.
Before long, the law of attraction, your personal "yes" genie will be bringing you more things to be thankful for.

Until next time, here's to your lucky life!

Green is Good - An amazing, fun, magical experience.

One Saturday afternoon my Sweetie arrived at my shop very excited about a synchronicity that had just taken place.

The evening before, he had been relaxing in his favorite room, the music room, sitting in his favorite chair, the "gold chair", listening to an album by a band he hadn’t listened to in ages, the New Riders of the Purple Sage.

As he sat there enjoying the music, he started reading an article in a magazine about a band he had never heard of before, but one that sounded interesting, called Tea Leaf Green from San Francisco.

Then this morning, out of the blue, one of his friends called from Florida and said he had been looking on the internet and noticed that the New Riders of the Purple Sage were going to be playing a concert in Cleveland, (about a 5 hour drive away), on the next day, which was Sunday, and there was another band playing called Tea Leaf Green.

Sweetie laughs, and tells him, I was just listening to the New Riders last night and reading an article about Tea Leaf Green.

Funny thing was, he and his friend hadn’t talked on the phone for weeks, and they had not ever discussed going to a New Riders of the Purple Sage concert.

So Sweetie gets on the computer and looks up the concert.  Sure enough the New Riders were performing the next day and the opening act was none other than Tea Leaf Green!

Can you believe it? What were the odds of that?

Sweetie was totally excited to go but the tickets were $150 each!  Plus it was a five hour drive which meant the cost of an overnight stay, too.

I could tell Sweetie was pretty excited, and seeing as how it seemed so synchronistic and all, I figured we should go for it.

So I called up the venue and asked if the ticket price online was correct, and if they still had tickets. Yes it was, and yes they did.  Seems it was a charity benefit and fundraiser, so that’s why tickets cost $150 each but we didn’t have an extra $300 we could spend that weekend on tickets.

The cost of the tickets seemed to take the wind out of his sails, so I said, “Let’s not give up on it, maybe something will work out”.

The next morning I got up and headed out for my Sunday run.  As I was running, I remembered the concert was that evening and if we were going to go we needed to be on the road by noon. I thought about how strange it all was and I felt a strong desire to go but still didn’t have the $300 when I suddenly had a thought.  What if?

Since the concert was a fundraiser maybe someone had purchased tickets as a donation and had no plans on attending.

So as soon as I got back to the house I called the number I had called the day before.  A really nice lady answered and I explained to her I had called the day before about the concert, I was five hours away and would love to attend, but couldn’t afford the $300 for the tickets. Had anyone possibly purchased tickets and wasn’t planning on attending? She said she had no clue but would call the person in charge of the tickets and ask. She took my number and said she’d call me back.

I decided to act as if it were a done deal and go ahead and get showered and packed and ready to leave in two hours, just in case. Road trips and concerts are two of my favorite fun activities.

Before I made it to the shower my phone rang.  It was the lady from the venue and she said, “If you are willing to drive five hours to attend this concert, come on, you don’t need any money, we will let you in for FREE!

I called up my Sweetie and told him to get packed and ready we were heading to see Tea Leaf Green and the New Riders of the Purple Sage, for FREE, and that I’d be there to pick him up at noon.  Needless to say, he was thrilled.

Come noon, as we were hitting the highway, with our cooler in the back seat, and a couple of sandwiches Sweetie made for our lunch, Sweetie starts expressing his doubts.  Yes, he agreed it was pretty wild how we were going to get in free and all but he had no clue whether this Tea Leaf Green would be any good.  Were we doing the right thing?

Just then a car passed us with a large bumper sticker that said, “Green is Good”.  I pointed it out and we both laughed. See? It’s a sign.  Just then, there was billboard by the side of the highway that said, “Got Music?” Then another car passed us with a sticker that said, “I believe in Magic”, then another that said, “Life is Good”.

I reminded Sweetie that I had won a one night stay at any Red Roof of my choice last fall and had never used my coupon, so when we stopped for fuel, I called the 1-800 number and they graciously made me a reservation, for FREE!

We had a fun drive and actually arrived pretty early. I even found some coins on the sidewalk. (A sure sign of easy money and good fortune)

When we went in, I told the lady I was the one who had called this morning and driven five hours, and she seemed happy we had made it.  She invited us to go backstage where there was a buffet.

As we headed that way, Tea Leaf Green was just finishing their practice and sounded really good.  Sweetie told the band leader our synchronistic events and he said, “It was written in the stars”.

We headed backstage, got some FREE food and sat down at a table.  Sweetie went for a beverage and a bottle of water for me.

As I waited for him, the band members of the New Riders of the Purple Sage walked up and asked were these seats taken?  Of course not! You can imagine the look on Sweetie’s face when he returns to the table and realizes I am eating and conversing with the members of the band.  When he confessed he forgot to bring me a bottle of water, the drummer for the band jumped up and said, “I’ll get you one off of our bus”.

Could it get any better?  Yes!

We had front row center seats for the whole show.  Unlimited free drinks.  We enjoyed two amazing concerts, both definitely worth the drive. Tea Leaf Green first, then the New Riders.

Then, after the show, the New Riders invited us to come on their tour bus for some photos and the drummer gave me both of his drumsticks (since I am a drummer), as a souvenir.

Control Your Reactions and Increase Your Luck

We have the power to control our reactions to events, and in doing so increase our luck.

Neville says,  "Your reactions, whether positive or negative, are creative of future circumstances".

As I understand it, what this means is, whenever something happens, it is our reactions to the event, that is creating our future.

In other words, the way we react, is the way we feel, and what we are feeling is what we are vibrating and attracting or creating more of.

Furthermore, we can control our reactions, if we take a moment to remember that each and every event doesn't mean anything in particular, it only means what we are imagining and believing that it means.

I had an experience that reminded me of how true this is.

Last summer, Sweetie and I set out on a 125 mile road trip to see Billy Joe Shaver in concert.

We left a little early so we would have plenty of time to get to the venue, find parking, and perhaps enjoy a meal before the show.

About an hour into the trip the air conditioner suddenly stopped working and the engine started overheating in Sweetie's auto. (Not good when the temperature is about 90 degrees and you're still about 70 miles from your destination.)

Luckily, within minutes we saw a rest area and pulled in with smoke coming from under the hood.

Now our first reactions could have been really negative.
  • Fear that we were stranded
  • How would we get it fixed?
  • Was it even fixable?
  • How much would it cost to fix?
  • Were we going to miss our concert?
Instead, we chose to react positively with thoughts like:
  • We were lucky there was a rest area so close
  • Wonder how close the nearest garage and tow truck service is?
  • I wonder if the towing service takes AAA.
  • It's good we left early, we could still make the concert.
While Sweetie was looking under the hood, I went into the rest area and asked where the nearest town was.  Within minutes I had contacted a garage with a tow truck and they were on their way to pick us up.

Even though the driver informed us they no longer took AAA, I decided not to worry, I informed Sweetie I had some sort of road service on my auto insurance that covered towing bills. I was just happy we were being towed to the garage to get our auto fixed.

Once there, they informed us it was just a hose, they could fix it and have us back on the road soon. The owner told us we were lucky we called when we did because they were just getting ready to lock up and go home.
Enjoying a cool beverage while waiting.

In less than 45 minutes from the time it happened we were back on the highway headed to our show.  The bill was $160 ($80 for the tow and $80 for the repair job), and cash only, but once again we chose to be happy that we just happened to have enough cash.

We arrived in time to still have a good BBQ dinner, the concert was really fun, and I even got to meet Billy Joe Shaver afterwards.

All the way home late that night we kept counting our blessings.  We were so lucky it happened where it did and when it did.

Some people might say, if you were really lucky, it wouldn't have happened at all, and it cost you $160.

The truth is, things happen all around us every day and as I said, I believe how we react is sowing the seeds for how things turn out.

My auto insurance reimbursed the $80 for the tow bill, and a few months later Sweetie's insurance said the whole incident was covered and sent him a check for $160, so we actually came out $80 ahead. How's that for lucky?

So, the next time some "unlucky" event happens, control your reactions. Look for something to feel good about in the event. Even if it doesn't change the current situation, you will be sowing the seeds for good stuff to come your way and before you know it, you'll be feeling lucky too.

Until next time, here's to your lucky life!

A Sign of the Hummingbird in Albuquerque

In honor of Father's Day coming up this week, I thought I would honor my father and share another sign of the hummingbird.

My Dad passed over in 2006 but as I've mentioned before, I truly believe we can still communicate.

I got my love of travel from my Dad.  I have wonderful childhood memories of stocking the cooler, packing the fishing rods, and heading out on the back roads of West Virginia to go fishing, camping, horse back riding, and just seeing the sights.

Along with stopping to see every roadside attraction along the way, my dad was always pointing out the beauty of nature, from the flowers to the sky.

I seemed to have passed on the love of travel to my daughter, and a few years ago, she and I took a trip to Albuquerque to see the sights.

At the Petrogylph Monument in Albuquerque

When we went to see the Petroglyph Monument, I was so overwhelmed with the beauty of nature, the rocks, the blue sky, the cacti, that I turned to my daughter and said, "I wish my Dad were here to see this, he would love it."

At that moment a hummingbird came right up to my head and began buzzing right beside my ear.

My daughter said, "OMG, what is that?"

I said, "It's Dad!  He's letting me know he is here, he does see it and love it."

I love you, Dad. Happy Father's Day.

Until next time, here's to your lucky life!
